Ruger's owner; Shelly Watkins of Indiana in the United States
has kindly allowed the use of his medical details. Shelly is recording his details with
the aim being to document the issues he faces during his life. By recording his tests,
weight and any symptoms he shows we will chart his progress into adulthood here to look at how and with what medication any problems
are treated as they may occur. What we hope it will do by producing what is in effect a diary is to help
other owners to chart and compare the problems he encounters with that of their own dogs.

6 weeks 3.2 lbs
7 weeks 3.6 lbs
8 weeks 4.2 lbs - Vaccinated normally
10 weeks 5.3 lbs
11 weeks 6.5 lbs
12 weeks 7.3 lbs - Blood Test - Low electrolytes
13 weeks - Thyroid panel (results below showing Ruger's compared to normal reference levels)
Thyroid medication started 1/4 of 0.2 mg dose (0.05mg)
16 weeks - 9.4 lbs Height 11.5"
17 weeks 9.7 lbs

Low thyroid T4 result, Ruger's dose has now been increased to 1/2 tablet ( 0.10 mg) the previous dose has raised his T4 but as can be seen from his initial T4 test, it has not risen enough. The dose will be adjusted until his T4 is back in the normal zone.
