The Saartje Foundation for pituitary dwarfism in dogs is a 'not for profit' organisation registered number: 32167494 and based in the Netherlands. The Foundation works with the Department of Clinical Science of Companion Animals, University of Utrecht, which is the centre for pituitary dwarfism research. All Officers and Ambassadors are unpaid and give their time freely to the organisation. The aim of the Foundation is to provide information, advice and support on pituitary dwarfism to Owners, Veterinary professionals, Breeders, Breed Clubs, Breed Councils and Kennel clubs around the world.

A book about Pituitary Dwarfism has been written by the Chairman Tanja Stoetman, which aims to inform as many people as possible about pituitary dwarfism, the book was supervised by Dr. H.S. Kooistra from the Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, Holland, who provided all of the technical information.
The book gives information about the disorder and how it was possible that about 20% of affected breeds became carriers of Pituitary Dwarfism, how to prevent the disorder, the effects on the life expectancy and quality of life of dogs with PD, how to treat these effects, the politics in the dog world and how the Kennel Clubs, Breed Councils and breeders around the world react to pituitary dwarfism.
